Open Systems Interconnect (OSI) model
   A seven-layer hierarchical reference structure developed by the ISO for defining, specifying, and relating communications protocols and for standardizing communication between systems manufactured by different vendors. See also MAC sublayer, LLC sublayer, and International Standards Organization.
